Tequila-Based Cocktails For Your Wedding

Happy Mexican Independence Day! It’s coming up on September 16th, and in keeping with the week’s celebrations I wanted to list a few traditional (and some not so traditional) Mexican cocktails that would be perfect for a Mexican inspired wedding. If you would like to offer your guests something more than a typical margarita on your wedding day, here are some delicious tequila-based cocktail options to choose from with the recipes. Paloma

Cocktail Ingredients
1/2 oz. Rock Candy Syrup
1/2 oz. grapefruit juice
1 1/2 oz. Tequila
Top up with Squirt
Ice
Lime
Salt for Rimming (Optional)

Agave Kiss

Cocktail Ingredients
2 oz Tequila Herradura Silver
½ oz Chambord
1 oz White Crème de Cacao
1 oz Double Cream

Preparation

In a shaker with ice, add Herradura tequila, white crème de cacao, double cream and chambord. Shake for 15 seconds. Pour into a chilled cocktail glass, rimmed with white chocolate, add a spear of fresh raspberries, and serve.

Sparkle In Your Eye

Cocktail Ingredients
2 Parts Tequila
1 Part Piña Colada Mix
2 Parts Orange Juice
Fresh Cinnamon
Ice

Preparation
In a pint glass with ice mix the tequila, piña colada and the orange juice. Shake and serve in a tall rocks glass and add a cinnamon stick for a garnish.

Liquid Love

Cocktail Ingredients
2 parts Tequila
Cranberry Juice
Orange juice
Minx Vodka Cocktail

Preparation
In a rocks glass with ice add the tequila, a splash of cranberry juice, a splash of orange juice and top it with Minx Vodka Cocktail.

Tequila Mockingbird

Cocktail Ingredients
1 Jalapeño pepper slice
2 oz Patrón Silver Tequila
1.5 oz Watermelon-Basil Purée*
.75 oz Fresh lime juice
.75 oz Agave syrup (one part agave nectar, one part water)
Glass: Rocks

Preparation
In a shaker, muddle the jalapeño slice. Add the remaining ingredients and fill with ice. Shake for 10 seconds and double strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.

*Watermelon-Basil Purée Ingredients
2 cups Chopped fresh watermelon
7 Basil leaves

Preparation
Purée both ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth. Refrigerate until needed.

Dulce de Tequila

Cocktail Ingredients
2 oz Tequila Tezón Reposado
1 oz Martell Cognac
1 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz Lime Juice
1 tbsp Agave Nectar
Large-grained Sugar for Rimming
Lemon Wedge for Garnish

Preparation
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with sugar. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Cantarito

Cocktail Ingredients
1 1/2 oz Tequila Blanco
1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz Fresh Ruby Red Grapefruit or Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Fresh Orange Juice
Grapefruit Soda Such as Squirt
Lemon, Lime and Orange Wedges for Garnish
Salt for Rimming (Optional)

Preparation
Rim a clay mug with salt and add some ice cubes (about 1/3 full). Add the tequila and juices, then top it off with grapefruit soda (Squirt) and stir. Garnish with the fruit wedges.

Vampirito

Cocktail Ingredients
2 Parts IZKALI® Silver Tequila
3 Parts Sangrita (Viuda de Sánchez) – A mix of orange, tomato juice and spices.
3 Parts Grapefruit Soda (Squirt)
Juice of ½ Lime
Pinch of Salt
Salt or Chilli Powder such as Tajin for Rimming

Preparation
Mix first three ingredients in a pitcher. Add to taste lime juice and salt. To spice up your Vampiro even more, add a dash of Picante sauce.
Pour into a tall glass with ice cubes that has been rimmed with salt or preferably rimmed with Tajin chilli powder.

Add a lime wedge for garnish and ENJOY!

Tequila Sparkler

Cocktail Ingredients
2 oz El Jimador tequila blanco
1/4 oz triple sec
4 to 5 fresh raspberries
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/4 oz agave nectar
top with essn sparkling meyer lemon juice (or, other sparkling lemonade)

Preparation
Muddle raspberries in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker half-way with ice and combine all other ingredients except the lemonade. Shake and strain into a fine mesh strainer over a rocks glass filled with ice. Use a small spoon to stir the liquid in the strainer to ensure all liquid goes into the glass. Top with sparkling lemonade.
